6-8 ELA

I’m Ms. Tucker, the middle grades ELA teacher! This is my 5th year at Oakboro Choice STEM School, and my 7th year as an ELA teacher. I have a Master's Degree in Middle School English Language Arts Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I received my undergraduate degree from East Carolina University.

My first two years of teaching were at a charter school in Cabarrus County; while there, I taught 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. 

I LOVE teaching ELA, I love teaching at Oakboro, and I love teaching middle school! My goal is for my students to enjoy Reading as much as I do,  and from my past students' reactions in my class, I think I do a pretty good job at it! :)

I have high expectations in my classroom, however my ultimate goal is for my students to learn as much as possible about reading and writing. I also believe that making mistakes is a part of learning… we all do it every day; it’s a necessary part of moving forward.

Some fun/interesting facts about me are: my favorite color is Rose Gold, I'm allergic to chocolate, and my favorite genre of books are dystopian novels.
