All About Me!

I'm Matthew Throneburg, the middle grades science/social studies teacher and this is my second year teaching at Oakboro STEM. I grew up in Stanly County and attended the university of North Carolina at Charlotte where I pursued middle grades education in science and social studies. My goal in the classroom is to inspire students to pursue new interest, use science to explain the world around them, and understand the many structures that make up our social world today.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy doing anything and everything outdoors with my Great Dane "Bandit." My family, friends, and students are extremely important to me as I would not be here doing what I love without them! I look forward to a great year here at Oakboro!
